Play music to the cow

In the Warring States period, there was a musician called Gong Ming Yi who can play and write music. He played the lyre very well, and people found his music graceful and pleasant to listen to. Everyone loved listening to him play and people respected him.

Not only did he like playing his lyre inside, he also liked playing the lyre outside when the weather was good. One day, he went to the outskirts of town. There was a gentle breeze, the willow swayed in the wind and a cow was eating grass. Suddenly, Gong Ming Yi felt like playing the most elegant piece for the cow. But after he finished playing, the cow did not react to the beautiful music.

Gong Ming Yi thought the piece was too elegant and that he needed to change to a different tune. The cow did not respond and just continued to eat grass.

Then the cow slowly moved away to a different patch of grass to eat.

Gong Ming Yi saw the cow finally move away and felt disappointed. People told him: ‘Don’t be upset! It’s not that your music is bad, it’s because the cow doesn’t understand music!’ Then he sighed and took his lyre and went home.

Gong Ming Yi played as hard as he could to win over the cow, even with his reserved music. However, the cow, occasionally swayed tail to drive the flies away, still kept eating grass without making a sound.

Then eventually, the cow slowly moved away to a different patch of grass to eat.

Gong Ming Yi saw the cow finally moved away and felt disappointed. People told him: ‘Don’t be upset! It’s not that your music is bad, it’s because the cow doesn’t understand music!’ Then he sighed and took his lyre and went home.

After the United States threatened to use nuclear weapons during the Korean War,[3][4] Chairman Mao Zedong decided that only a nuclear deterrent of its own would guarantee the security of the newly founded PRC. Thus, Mao announced his decision to develop China’s own strategic weapons, including associated missiles. After the launch of mankind’s first artificial satellite, Sputnik 1 by the Soviet Union on 4 October 1957, Chairman Mao decided to put China on an equal footing with the superpowers (“我们也要搞人造卫星”), using Project 581 with the idea of putting a satellite in orbit by 1959 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the PRC’s founding. However, it would not be until 24 April, 1970 that this goal would become a reality.
Mao and Zhou Enlai began the PRCs crewed space program on 14 July 1967.[5] China’s first manned spacecraft design was named Shuguang-1 (曙光一号) in January 1968.[6] Project 714 was officially adopted in April 1971 with the goal of sending two astronauts into space by 1973 aboard the Shuguang spacecraft. The first screening process for astronauts had already ended on 15 March 1971, with 19 astronauts chosen. The program was soon cancelled due to political turmoil.
The next crewed space program was even more ambitious and was proposed in March 1986 as Project 863. This consisted of a crewed spacecraft (Project 863-204) used to ferry astronaut crews to a space station (Project 863-205). Several spaceplane designs were rejected two years later and a simpler space capsule was chosen instead. Although the project did not achieve its goals, it would ultimately become the 1992 Project 921, encompassing the Shenzhou program, the Tiangong program, and the CSS.
On the 50th anniversary of the PRC’s founding, China launched the Shenzhou 1 spacecraft on 20 November 1999 and recovered it after a flight of 21 hours. The country became the third country with a successful crewed space program by sending Yang Liwei into space aboard Shenzhou 5 on October 15, 2003 for more than 21 hours. It was a major success for Chinese space programmes.

长颈鹿和山羊 a giraffe and a goat

One sunny morning,a giraffe and a goat were walking with each other. Along the way, everyone who saw them praised the giraffe’s height and beauty. The giraffe, undoubtebly proud of itself, arrogantly looked at the goat and said, “Look at me, how good it is to be so tall!” The goat glanced at him, then rolled his head as to not regard it right.

As they reached a shop, the goat looked at the shop’s door, then turned around and said to the giraffe, “Come, I’ll treat you to an ice cream.” He went inside with a selfconfident swagger.

The giraffe, however, could not fit through the door. Although the giraffe was practically lying on the floor, after bending his legs and stooping down low, he was still unable to fit through. The goat said, “You see, being small is better!” The goat then went in and bought two ice creams, giving one to the giraffe and said, “don’t go in, just eat here!” The giraffe ate with a relish. As he ate the tasty ice cream, he thought, “Being small also has its benefits!”

Later on, the goat saw a stall at the front that was selling a variety of beautiful balloons. The goat bought one and played with it. However, while he was playing with the balloon, he accidentally let go of the balloon. The balloon rose and got stuck in a very tall tree. The goat looked up and immediately went about trying to get his balloon. He tried standing on tiptoes, he tried using a stick, he tried everything, expending a huge amount of energy but to no avail. The giraffe saw the goat and could not help laughing. The giraffe then said, “Stop wasting energy. Just look at me.” After saying this he raised his head and gently knocked the balloon out of the tree. The goat looked at the giraffe once more, could not help thinking, “So being tall also has its benefits!”

From then on, giraffe and goat learned to learn from each other and to help each other, and became best friends.
